Ms. Hibnick is a civil trial attorney with an AV-rating from Martindale-Hubbell and over 28 years experience. She focuses her practice on helping Florida healthcare providers and businesses avoid and resolve legal problems and maintain and secure their reputations and resources. Her practice areas include medical malpractice and professional liability defense; regulatory and administrative claims defense; credentialing/privileges assistance and dispute resolution; business planning and strategizing; practice protection; general business litigation and dispute resolution; on-call litigation support; and other medical, business and health-related areas. Prior to creating Cynthia Barnett Hibnick, P.A., Ms. Hibnick was the managing shareholder of a statewide boutique litigation practice with a concentration on complex legal and medical matters. Ms. Hibnick graduated cum laude from the University of Miami School of Law in 1983 and magna cum laude from the University of Miami in 1979.
Ms. Hibnick is admitted to practice in the states of Florida and Illinois and before the United States District Court - Southern District of Florida. Ms. Hibnick holds memberships with The Florida Bar Association (Health Law and Trial Lawyers Sections); The Illinois State Bar Association; Miami-Dade County Bar Association; the American Health Law Association (Healthcare Liability and Litigation; Medical Staff Credentialing and Peer Review; and Physician Organizations Practice Groups); the Florida Association for Women Lawyers, (Board of Directors 1989 to 1991); the Women's Chamber of Commerce of Miami-Dade County (Board of Directors; Chair of Program and Outreach Committee); the Gwen S. Cherry Black Women Lawyers Association; and the National Association of Women MBAs. Ms. Hibnick also served on the Florida Bar Association's 11th Judicial Circuit Grievance Committee from 1991 to 1994, where she investigated complaints of violation of the professional conduct rules imposed by the Supreme Court of Florida on Florida Bar Members. Ms. Hibnick regularly volunteers to judge law students in local and statewide Mock Trial Competitions, including The Florida Bar Chester Bedell Memorial Mock Trial Competition.
In addition to her Bar and business related activities, Ms. Hibnick lectures physicians and others in the medical arena on recurring medical/legal issues and preventative measures. Her presentations have been approved for AMA PRA Category 1 credits.
Ms. Hibnick is active in the greater Miami-Dade community and its non-profit organizations, having served six years on the Board of Directors of Temple Beth Am in Pinecrest, Florida and as Chairperson of its Risk Management Committee. Ms. Hibnick also served on the Board of Directors of Greenfield Day School in Miami, Florida. She is a life member of Hadassah, and was a founding member of the Hadassah Professional Women's Council for Miami-Dade County. Ms. Hibnick is an active member of the Women's Fund of Miami-Dade (Economic Security Work Group; Grantor/Site Inspector). Ms. Hibnick is also an avid reader and is a member of the Brickell Avenue Literary Society. |
